Oh
Mother…
You are the very spark of creation;
In gratitude I open my heart.
Oh Mother, you are the essence of eternity…
I see you in the reflection of your healing waters.
I feel your beating heart pulsating from the depths of the earth.
I hear you, Oh Mother, in the song of the sparrow…
Your buds opening and the fragrance of your flowers…
Your breath caresses me, with the whispering of your winds against
my naked soul.
Oh Mother, teach me the way…
Oh Mother Divine. |

For many years, most of my travels have led me to
explore the mysteries of the what is called the "Sacred Feminine."
It has been a great joy for me to share these discoveries in my
gatherings and retreats for women. In India, they call her Shakti,
Lakshmi, Durga, Kali, Saraswati.... In Christianity, the Mother
Mary... In China, she is Quan Yin, the Goddess of Compassion...
Hawaiians call her Pele... In Ireland there are Celtic goddesses...
She is truly everywhere. There's Artemis, the moon dancer; Kachina,
the butterfly maiden of the Hopi's; the Roman Fortuna; Ix Chel-
the Mayan Goddess; Tara, the compassionate Tibetan Goddess; The
Willendorf Earth Goddess... Medicine Women... She is as endless
as the unlimited kinds of flowers there are. For centuries in every
culture we have come to revere the divinity of women and their healing
powers, far too many names to mention here.
Through out my life while trying to understand the
complexities and mysteries of being a woman, I have come to realize
how very much my own dear mother has been a constant source of inspiration
for me, both through her challenges and victories in life. Before
she died, she truly knew she was connected to the Divine. Although
I have been to India 17 times to participate in the Divine Mother
Festival, I am still discovering the deeper meanings of Goddess,
the Sacred Feminine, and more importantly, what it means to be a
woman ~ here on earth, grounded & fundamentally living a life
connected to nature, and each other. I wrote the words in the song
above, as an ode to our dear Mother Earth- the most important Mother
Goddess of all.
